1 rep every min with increasing weights. Starting weight was 225 and the weight goes up 10lbs every min.
I hit 315lbs which surpassed my own expectations going in and was good enough for 3rd in the event. I had hoped to get 305 but with adrenaline and the crowd I managed to pull it off.
My whole crew happened to be right in front of the 315 bar which worked out perfectly as it was a huge motivator. I lost my footing on the clean a bit but managed to recover and barely got the jerk. I dipped way too low which is something I’m very aware of and was a little shaky up top but it was good enough.
I didn’t even attempt the 325 as I knew I wouldn’t make it but we had the option to do DL’s as a tie breaker. I did 7+3
Workout 2 – (no rest between workouts 2,3 + 4)
30 Muscle ups for time – 6min cap.
I got 29reps which was 17th in the event. My PR on this workout is 4:55 which I did less than a month ago but under the circumstances I’m content with this. Their set up for rings is very different from what I am used to and was very hard for me to deal with.
I did sets of 3 until I got to 18 then started doing 2’s and 1’s. I think I failed 2 reps.
This workout is one of my favorites in CF as I love muscle ups. I think my strategy was good going in and I did as good as I could have on it. When you get to the point of failing reps you just have to wait long enough till you can go again. There’s no real mental toughness component.
1 Deadlift @385lbs
1 Freestanding HSPU
This workout was originally supposed to be 3 DL’s and 2 HSPU but they changed it last min for whatever reason.
I got 2 rounds + a DL done in the 3mins which I’m very happy with. This gave me 10th in the event. The DL was a lot heavier than I was expecting and I really had to focus to do each one.
The HSPU are really difficult by themselves and coupled with heavy breathing post 30 muscle ups they were even harder. I’m really happy that I got 2 of em done but I saw video of my 2nd one and I would have no reped myself on it BUT my judge didn’t so 🙂
At the end of the above AMRAP we had 1min to put on a 20lb weight vest before beginning the next workout
20 hand release burpees to a target (set of rings that we muscle-up’d on set 1 fist above max reach)
3 rope climbs
20 hand release burpees to a target
I only managed to get one rope climb which gave me 43rd for the event.
I snailed through the burpees and got one rope climb and as I came down I didn’t show control below a certain line so I got no rep’d. I then got one. Went up again and couldn’t make it up.
Grip was completely gone at that point.
I’m disappointed with the result on this one but I did as good as I could have on it and thats all you can do.
4 Snatches @165lbs
14th in this event. In practice last week I did 6:17 on this when I was fresh so I’m actually pretty happy with this.
First set of snatches UB, 2nd set was 2+1+1, 3rd was 1+1+1+1
All pistols unbroken
T2B – 7+7+6, 2nd was 5+5+5+5, last was 5+3 +4 then 2’s and 3’s to finish.
The T2B’s crushed me but again I feel like I did as good as I could have on them.
I missed the final workout by 1 spot. The top 12 went through and I was 13th. I was in 12th overall going into the 5th so I knew I’d have to fight for it but it wasn’t enough.
13th out of 48
I obviously wanted to be in the final workout but as I said above I’m happy with my performance overall. I feel like I gave my best effort on everything and thats all that can be expected.
Overall a great day and another awesome event put on by Ben and his team.
