Last night I attended a 4 hour skydiving skills camp (another 4 hours tonight) and I got a migraine half way through it. When it hit I was in the wind tunnel chamber which is a really loud intense environment. When I get them my vision usually goes blurry for about 20mins or so then the pain comes and can last anywhere from an hour to 4 hours.
I weighed up my options in the moment – I had paid a lot of money to attend the camp, I was over an hour drive from home, I had a partner that was depending on me, and in order for me to leave I would have had to create a big scene and get the place shut down in order for me to get out. I decided to just suck it up and grind through it.
It wasn’t the most pleasant experience but I made the most of it and got through it. I’m not sure what triggered it. Yesterday was an awesome day for me and I wasn’t stressed or anything so ?????
During one of our breaks I did eat a power bar and some shitty energy gels and the migraine hit less than 10mins afterwards. Maybe a coincidence but maybe not.
Needless to say today I was not feeling it. My legs were junk from all the snatches yesterday and my head was foggy from the migraine. Both things together resulted in me giving a half assed effort to 1/2 of what I was supposed to do today.

Was supposed to do 10min AD for cals this evening but based on how I was feeling it would have turned into more of a recovery session so I opted out of it.
I attended the 2nd day of the skydiving camp and really enjoyed it. My head was still all over the place but I managed to stay focussed on everything pretty well.
I think there was around 8 other dudes attending and we did a bunch of skills and drills both in and out of the tunnel. My partner was an older guy who has over 1300 jumps and I was able to hold my own with him which I’m really proud of. I’m starting to get a lot more comfortable ‘flying’ now and I’m really looking forward to the season starting in a few months.
