Wow this workout was tough. It honestly took me almost 20mis to recover afterwards. The feeling I got after I finished must be what people feel like after doing baseline for the first time. I’ve honestly recovered faster from Fran! Even as I type up this post 6 hours later my throat still feels like it’s burning.
Initially I was supposed to be participating in the last heat of the day with everyone else but I decided this morning that I wanted to come in and get it over with before everyone else did it. That way I could focus on running the event and not have to thinking about myself in the back of my mind for the morning. Anyone who does CrossFit should be able to relate to this.
I had my bar set up and ready to go just as Glen was finished with a client so he offered to shout at me which def helped a lot. Watching the video back the thing that stands out the most to me is when Glen shouts “ a minute seventeen, don’t fuck around, lets go “. I respond really well to this kind of coaching. I need to be told I am a pussy etc because most of the time when I take rest I don’t need to. It’s all just a mental barrier.
Pick the bar up and do another rep – simple.
Seeing as I am so into Olympic Lifting it is hard for me to some extent to watch the video below as my form is really not that good the whole way through. I keep the bar moving in the required range of motion but I don’t think I ever jump my feet out or reset them. When I clean this up I think I will manage an even faster time.
A thing to note on this is that for me this workout is a straight conditioning workout. My 1rep max Clean + Jerk is 295lbs so 135lbs is only 45-50% for me. Having said that there is a big difference between having good 1rep max strength and good strength endurance.
I’m happy that I achieved my goal of sub 2mins but I cut it super close! When I had 5 reps to go in 15 seconds I knew that I wouldn’t make it if I let go of the bar. If I didn’t have Glen there to push me I prob wouldn’t have made it.
5K race in Newton tomorrow! Oh baby.
