I felt a little thrown off today after having 5 beers last night. Coupled with not drinking enough water today I was pretty dehydrated most of the day.
This morning I started my onslaught on my deadlift technique. I’ve been looking at a few powerlifting websites and reading some articles over the last few days as well as talking to some of the more experienced Deadlifters at Craic. I’ve figured out what I was doing wrong and I’m going start beating it to death until I’m awesome at them.
I’m setting a goal initially for myself to be able to complete the heavy deadlift regional workout which was

This WOD would be pretty much impossible for me to do at the moment. I would struggle to do it even at 275. I have no set plan of attack for this or anything, I’m just going to Deadlift at least a couple times a week – ideally one workout that just involves Deads and another WOD either on the same day or later in the week. The difference I feel like this time is that I have actually figured out the issue I was having and I know how to correct it.
I started things off today by doing 5 sets of 10 Deadlifts @ 95lbs as fast as I could. This both felt awesome and completely different to how I used to do them. Basically I have been using my quads all this time instead of my hamstrings, glutes and low back.

I’m really happy with this time. I was able to work really fast and transition between exercises very quickly. I tripped on the DU’s once and had to break up the last 2 sets of HSPU but got everything else unbroken. I think my box jumps were my saving grace on this one as I did them all touch and go.
Really good WOD. The last 2 days have been really good and kind of refreshing staying away from a barbell. Having said that there is a chipper workout I wanna do tomorrow which has a barbell movement in it.
More WODs like today and yesterday to come.
Food of the day
-not getting home last night till 1am screwed up my meal preparation for the day so I ended up eating out 3 times! All good stuff and the only thing it hurt was my wallet.
6am – 5 eggs, mushrooms, guac
11am – No. 6 from place down the street – 3 eggs, steak tips + salad
3pm – same as above
6:20pm – same as above
9:10pm – grainless granola which I made mixed with protein powder + almond Milk
